“As crônicas do Rio Amazonas: Tradução, introdução e notas etno-históricas sobre as antigas populações indígenas da Amazônia” (2020)

Gathers a series of accounts about ancient inhabitants of the Amazon River. Almost all of these chronicles, as these records were called, are unpublished in Portuguese. They were written by Spanish travelers and missionaries or in the service of Spain in the 16th and 17th centuries, a time when this country disputed possession of the Amazon with Portugal. They are important sources for understanding the history and culture of the indigenous peoples who inhabited the riverbanks at the beginning of the colonial period. An interesting fact is that there are texts from the first voyage to the mouth of the Amazon (1541-1542) in the collection.
